FORGET London, Paris and Milan, Llanelli is where the latest trends will be found when the town hosts its first ever fashion week.
Five days of glittering fashion-led events are being planned across the town, all in aid of the Ray Gravell and Friends Charitable Trust.
There will be something for everyone to enjoy as nearly 50 retailers from the town centre and Trostre showcase the latest looks from casual and work wear to wedding gowns and prom dresses.
Organising committee chairwoman Angela Saunders said: “We are really excited to have so many businesses on board already, and we are really looking forward to showing off what our town has to offer.
“This is the first Llanelli Fashion Week and it will be held in five different venues around the town. There will be a different theme every day, with different traders, and we are hoping to raise a serious amount of money.”
Making sure nobody forgot the cause behind the campaign was Rupert Moon, who made an appearance at the launch event decked out in a brand new Ray Gravell hoody, cap and ‘Grow a Grav’ beard.
“I think the innovation and concept that has been driven by Angela and everyone involved is fabulous,” he said.
“I think we have got a lovely town centre, and this is a way of showing that off.”
Mr Moon also revealed that a number of Scarlets players, including Josh Turnbull and Rob McCusker, would be modelling during the week.
He said: “Some of the guys enjoyed being fashion models too much during our Pretty in Pink night and they will be involved in the shows.
“Josh and Rob are happy to show anything they have to for a worthy cause, so I’m sure they will be there.”
Also showcasing the latest trends will be the lucky finalists of our forthcoming competition to find the Face of Llanelli, open to males and females hoping to be the next big thing on the runway. Budding designers are also in with a chance to see their creations brought to life as they compete to be crowned Llanelli Designer of the Year.
The week will kick off with a catwalk show at the St Elli Centre on Monday, March 21.
And to top if all off, the event will include a raffle with great prizes up for grabs, including a car donated by Gravells.
